There has been a growing trend of celebrities launching their own liquor brands in recent years. The business is lucrative, which is perhaps the reason why some of the biggest names in the world of entertainment find it an easy way to cash in on their popularity.

But the high margin that the business generates is not the only thing that attracts the big names; celebrities often prefer to showcase their personal taste in alcoholic products. For instance, actor Dwayne Johnson, who is still popularly known as The Rock from his WWE days, is a tequila connoisseur. So, it wasn’t a surprise when he launched his own tequila brand in early 2020.

Irrespective of how the business performs, the number of celebrities launching their own liquor brands has not gone down. And while it is understandable for gin lovers like Ryan Reynolds to launch Aviation Gin, even celebrities like Blake Lively, who confessed she doesn’t drink, have founded liquor brands.

With everyone — from actors and singers to models and celebrities — enthusiastically hopping on the entrepreneurial bandwagon and investing millions in the liquor business, we bring you some of the biggest celebrities from across the world who are owners or co-owners of some of the fanciest liquor brands in the world.

In June 2023, Blake Lively launched her brand of canned sparkling cocktails named Betty Booze. The cocktails come in three varieties: sparkling tequila with oak-smoked lemonade, sparkling tequila with lime shiso, and sparkling bourbon with apple ginger sour cherry.

“Drinking isn’t my thing. But for f* sake, the flavour is. Homemade recipes. Real fruit. Real ingredients. Quality booze. No crap. Also a real time-saver. Which is why I really did it,” wrote Lively on Instagram, where she shared the news as well as pictures of the canned cocktails.

In 2021, Lively launched her nonalcoholic mixers brand named Betty Buzz. At the time, she said that she doesn’t drink.

“I don’t drink. I know that’s odd coming from the wife of an infamous gin slinger. Over the past many years of mixing but not drinking cocktails, it became clear mixers are the unsung heroes of the drink world and deserve just as much love as alcohol,” she said in a statement.

Whipshots, a brand she launched in partnership with consumer products giant Starco Brands, offers premium blends comprising whipped cream and vodka. It comes in three flavours — vanilla, caramel and mocha — which can be used to make cocktails and sweets even more delicious by adding a dollop.

When the partnership was announced in September 2022, Cardi B told Forbes: “Whipshots matches my style — over the top, sexy, unique. Together we’re completely innovating whipped cream and giving it an extra pop. Whipshots is Cardi in a can.”
